It's been 5 days since the mixtape was released and I didn't want to do a review straight away because I wanted to give myself time to listen to all the songs and really take in the meanings and listen to the lyrics before I gave you my honest review. This blog post may be a little bit longer than usual so go grab a cup of hot chocolate and get comfy.
Hearts On Fire consisted of 9 originals songs written by Cimoreli, some we had heard before because they where performed on tour and other were brand new to our ears. The songs included in the mixtape are as follows;
- Hearts On Fire
- Im A Mess
- Before Octobers Gone
- I Like It
- Move On
- Good Enough
- Unsaid Things
- A Lot Like Love
- Someone To Chase
Each song was acoustic, but not like you would expect a normal acoustic version of a song to be. This was something different, there was something to these acoustic versions that made them very unique and catchy. It wasn't just a guitar and Cimorelli singing, it had so many different levels to it that I can't even explain.
All the songs on this mixtape had a deep and personal meaning to at least one of the sisters. We don't know who but you can tell they all related to their own music because when performing the songs on stage in Europe at least one of them would cry during each song. We all now how hard it is to write from the heart and to tell one person how you feel, never mind channelling that into a song for hundreds of thousands of people to head. I think that these sisters have been incredible strong to bring out such an emotional mixtape that is so personal to them.
As well as this, no song has the same meaning. All have come from a different story of different experience that one of the Cimorelli sisters have gone through, some being more negative than others. But no matter how deep and emotional the songs got you would never feel uncomfortable listening to them because of the emotion. Personally I got a feeling of comfort when listening to a few of their songs knowing that I wasn't alone and I think that I speak for a few people when I say this.
Although some songs did get very emotional for all the bad reasons (heartbreak, loneliness), some of the music had such a fun up-beat tune to it and really focused on some of the positive things, which I really liked as the mixtape had a balance of the two types of songs.
Personally my favourite song was I Like It, because this was fun and I really loved the chorus, it just made me feel so alive and fresh. But on the other hand I felt like I could relate to Good Enough in a very personal way! A lot of you will know that if you follow me on Twitter of have read some of my previous blog posts.
Overall I thought that this mixtape was an incredible way to share so many emotions and feeling from Cimorelli, and because it was free it meant that anyone in the world could listen to their music. Which is why Cimorelli are trying to push on the promotion side of the mixtape. We know that this isn't for the money side of things because they are going to make no money at all from this mixtape, they genuinely just want people to have music that they can relate to or listen to in that time of need.
You can download the mixtape for free here: http://t.co/4iS5QrlWJo and make sure to tweet about it when you have finished downloading!
Cimorelli have posted multiple different ways of promoting their new mixtape, Hearts On Fire, online and offline. The sisters posted a Tumblr post with a list of different ways to promote the music which I will link here:
http://t.co/T7BBNR0m10
Some of these ways are harder than other such as starting a street team or passing out CD's, but some are so easy you can do it with your eyes closed! Like putting up posters, tweeting people who are looking for new music, or even just sending the link to your friends.
A few days ago I went round Brimingham with a friend from Twitter with 25 CD's wit the mixtape burnt onto them and we hid them in so many different places such as lifts, books, promotion stands and it was one of the best feelings every when we saw people walking out of lifts with the CD's that we had earlier put in there. So it can be rewarding when promoting Cimorelli, you just have to find the way that is best for you.
Before I finis this blog post I have made up a poll to the side of this blog where you can pick what your favourite song was from the mixtape. The song that get the most votes I will create a fa lyric video for through Twitter/ my Blog. So make sure you vote for your favourite!
Stay Strong <3
