Cimorelli - Wildest Dreams / Blue Jeans Mash Up Review

Happy Sunday CimFam! It is officially Autumn and it's that perfect weather in the UK right now where it is sunny and clear skies but the air is crisp and fresh! I am loving it, makes me excited for everything to come, like; Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas! I realise that I missed an upload for a blog post last Sunday but I have a reasonable explanation, trust me. I was at camp for the weekend (Friday - Sunday) with my local Brownie troop taking part in different activities so I wasn't around to upload!

That means that this cover review is more than a little bit late, well over two weeks late to be precise! But let's forget about that and get into the actual review of the cover!

Wildest dreams by Taylor Swift and Blue Jeans by Lana Del Ray, another two songs that I have never heard of until now, so a fairly new concept to the type of song that it was. This cover was a mash-up of the two! Yes you read right, a MASH-UP! If I have done my research correctly the last mash-up Cimorelli uploaded was on the 28th November 2011! Almost 4 years ago now! Mash-ups are my favourite kind of covers because they are so different to what anyone else is posting, but unfortunately I wasn't able to appreciate the mash-up because I hadn't heard either of the songs so it sounded like one huge song to me!

Now the actual cover, Christina had been posting on her official Twitter account about what she thought of the cover and the video that they had recorded for it. Tweeting things like:

" ChristinaCim: Okay we just made a really weird video that doesn't make sense with the cover but whatever its been a long week lol '

Personally I agree. After watching the cover I thought it was very weird and unusual, it just seemed like a spare of the moment thing and that they had to get it uploaded and posted as quick as they could. I found the multiple scenarios filmed in the field odd and not very well put together. It seemed like there was no structure and it was basically do as you please.

There is nothing bad about what they had filmed, I just feel like it could have been put together a bit better and not have just random sisters floating in the pack of shots when other sisters are filming to the camera. I do realise that this was filmed shortly after them moving house and maybe that had something to do with it.

Many fans saw the video as strange but enjoyed it and I did too. With me the video doesn't matter as much as the singing because if Cimorelli cover a song that I love I won't re-watch the video I will just put the song onto the phone to listen to on the go. On the other hand if they cover a song that I love with a brilliant music video (such as the fight song cover) I will go back and watch it again and again. This mash-up will certainly be a song that I will just listen to on my phone.

Now, let's talk about the actual singing part of the video! I loved the mash-up and thought that it all went very well together, to an extent that it just sounded like one song instead of two. I found it to be very chill back and relaxed and a great cover to start of the fall season!

One of my favourite parts of the song was Dani's solo towards the end, the low tone in her voice just made a great fit to the song and brought it all together! I feel like I have never heard Dani sing like this before and it really did show that she has an incredible talent even with a lower voice than her sisters!

Now that Cimorelli are on tour I feel like we are not going to see as many covers from them now and more tour videos! Which I don't mind because I love seeing the girls on tour, it makes me feel proud! Being one of those fans that has been there for more than a few years, seeing them grow around the world and perform in different places just warms my heart!
